Position: Condominium Admin Assistant

What is your position at New Concept Management Inc., and what does it mean to be part of the team?
As a Condominium Admin Assistant, I collaborate closely with Alexis Milnes. I serve as the primary point of contact for owners and residents who encounter various issues. Being part of this team feels like being part of a family; we genuinely support one another. I trust that when I need assistance, my colleagues will be there for me, just as I am for them. Additionally, engaging in open discussions and lunch-and-learn sessions on various industry topics enhances my comprehension of delivering better results.
What began your journey at New Concept Management Inc.?
I relocated from Calgary to Montreal for five years. Upon my return, I began job hunting and discovered the advertisement for this position. Initially, I was unsure if I would be a good fit, as my knowledge of the field was limited. During my interview with Maria, I expressed, “I’m open to learning, but I want to clarify that I have limited knowledge about condominiums and their operations.” Maria responded, “That’s fine, I’m willing to teach!” Maria eagerly provided me with the tools and courses required for my success. She was willing to take a chance on me. The next day, Maria called to invite me for a second interview with Alexis, the condominium manager I’d be working alongside. We quickly connected, sharing a background in driving school buses, which gave us common ground, and I’ve been part of the New Concept Management team for the last eight years.
What do you love most about the job?
I love helping others. Supporting a resident in need feels rewarding. While our work can be challenging, helping someone with their issue reassures me that I’m doing something right. When they experience doubt or anxiety, I strive to offer comfort. I aim to enhance their mood and elicit a smile, even if they feel unsure about the situation.
Do you have a most memorable moment?
Yes, I had this gentleman call one day, and English wasn’t his first language. He had a thick accent. His toilet kept running, and he didn’t know how to stop it. I said, “Well, you have to jiggle your flapper.” He responded, “WHAT?!” Meanwhile, the girls in the office laughed like crazy at me in the background, and it’s still the big thing around here… “Karen and jiggling the flapper.”
